Responding to Medical Emergencies and Serious Injuries

We do the following when a child is seriously ill or injured and requires attention from a health care provider or emergency response team:

If there is a life threatening injury to a child, the director will contact emergency personnel before contacting the parents or legal guardian. If the parents or legal guardians cannot be reached, the director will then attempt to contact the child’s emergency contact person.

Certified person(s) will administer CPR/First Aid where necessary while waiting for emergency personnel to arrive. If the injury or illness is not life threatening, the director or transportation manager will transport the child to the hospital.
