Procedures for Fire, Earthquake, Flood, Water Failure, Power Failure, and Man-Caused Emergency

We will do the following if there is a fire in the building:

North Center: Each teacher will take assigned children and class binder through their emergency exit plans to the meeting place: Southwest corner of the building by the dumpster or bus stop on North side of building. Director will take emergency kit and cell phone to primary meeting place and then account for all staff/children. Administrator will call 911 and meet at the secondary meeting place with her cell phone to make sure everyone is accounted for. Director will clear return. The fire will be reported to the fire marshal by dialing 911.
West Center: Each teacher will take assigned children and attendance sheet through their emergency exit plans to the meeting place, which is the back of the parking lot or the front near the circle drive. Director will take emergency kit and cell phone to meeting place and then account for all staff/children. Administrator will call 911 with his/her cell phone. Director will clear return after clearance from the fire marshal. The fire will be reported to the fire marshal by dialing 911.
South Center: Each teacher will take assigned children and attendance sheet through their emergency exit plans to the meeting place, which is the southeast corner of the building by the dumpster (primary meeting place) or the bus stop on the North side of the building (secondary meeting place). Director will take emergency kit and cell phone to primary meeting place and then account for all staff/children. Administrator will call 911 with his/her cell phone and meet at the secondary meeting place to make sure everyone is accounted for. Director will clear return after clearance from the fire marshal. The fire will be reported to the fire marshal by dialing 911.

We will do the following if there is an earthquake:

All Centers: Drop to the ground, take cover under sturdy table, and hold on until shaking stops. If no table, crouch, covering head near inside corner of building. Stay away from glass, doors, and outside walls, and anything that could fall. If outside; stay there and move away from buildings, street lights, and utility wires.

We will do the following if there is a flood:

North Center: Meet upstairs, turn of electricity, and report to emergency dispath by dialing 435-716-9400
West Center: Turn off electricity, and report to emergency dispatch by dialing 435.716.9400. If flooding is in a single classroom we will evacuate that room and meet in the conference room. If flooding throughout the building we will initiate an emergency phone call to parents and will make every attempt to find a safe place to wait, as the building is on a single floor.
South Center: Meet in multi-purpose room, turn off electricity, and report to emergency dispatch by dialing 435-716-9400.

We will do the following if there is a power failure:

All Centers: Report failure, check circuit breakers, move children to a spot with natural light.

We will do the following if there is a water failure:

North Center: Use stored water for drinking, call parents to pick up children.
West Center: Use stored water for drinking, call parents to pick up children.
South Center: Use stored water for drinking, call parents, and take children next door at 3259 South Main to go to the restroom.

We will do the following if there is a man-caused emergency (such as a terrorist threat, armed intruder, hostage situation, or possible bomb):

All Centers: In the event of a man-caused emergency the first person able to will immediately call 911. Teachers will be alerted of any threats in the area by administration. The school will go in lock down, meaning all doors and windows will be closed and locked and blinds will be shut. Children will be entertained to stay quiet and calm.
